Greytown - New Zealand
The country’s oldest planned inland settlement, Greytown is full of history and interest.
Its main street is lined with lovingly restored heritage colonial buildings - many of which are now boutique shops selling a wide variety of goods including antiques and bric-a-brac, specialty foods and even hand-crafted military models. Its special microclimate has fostered a number of established gardens and open spaces which have become a particular attraction for those with an interest in things green.
With that special New Zealand ‘small town’ charm, it’s the perfect place to spend a day or two and the ideal base from which to explore the many delights of the renowned Wairarapa wine region.
Greytown is also a great spot to break a journey north or south along the scenic and fascinating State Highway 2.
